Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

This is the poem featured in the movie. Authorship of the poem in its original form (with two verses) is not entirely clear, but it is largely considered to have been written by Mary Elizabeth Frye (1904-2004). The middle verse was added in 2007 by Lucie Storrs.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.

Do not stand at my grave and mourn.
I am the dew-flecked grass at dawn.
Where tranquil oceans meet the land
I am the footprints in the sand
To guide you through the weary day.
I am still here; I'll always stay.

When you wake up to morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die.

The music

We would also like to thank the very talented Brady Barnett, whose wonderful music we have used in this movie. The track is called After The Rain and it's the title track of the CD Brady recorded to help cope with the outpouring of emotions he experienced after the death of his son Jonah. Click here to order After The Rain from Brady Barnett

"Today, I sent out invitations to my husband's memorial, via e-mail.
I incorporated "The Light Beyond's" beautiful movie. The first time
I viewed it I knew I would include it in the invitation as the contents really reflect the spirituality of my husband, Don. Through nature, Don communicated with God. From my heart, which has been so comforted by this movie, my sincere thanks and appreciation.  Sincerely, Loretta"

The movie

The movie was designed and created by Lucie Storrs. Many thanks to the marvelous Charlie Myall, of Myall Designs, for technical help. We simply couldn't have done it without you!

"The Light Beyond brings together a beautiful poem about hope
and peace and inspirational visuals. It's helped me to take time
out to reflect and meditate as I read the words..." C.C.
